Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Blog Hop - Recreate

Hello there to all the Arties hanging out with me today on the blog hop! What an honor to have you all visiting my post for the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team Blog Hop. This week, the team features RECREATIONS of cards other team members have made.

If you watch Sneaky Pete on Amazon Prime, Season 3 involves art counterfeiting. So I kind of felt like a real confidence man as I created the card for this post. I chose Jessica Francisco’s koi fish card from December 31, 2018. I really enjoyed how the white and gold bounced off the dark blue cardstock to create a stark contrast. Jessica is an embossing guru (teach me your ways) — check out her card:

The following pictures show my card up close:

Step-by-step Instructions:

  1. Trim down a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4.25 x 5.5”.

  2. Dust it wit an anti-static powder tool.

  3. Stamp the koi images from the Lucky You Stamp Set all over the the front of the panel with Clear Embossing Ink.

  4. Pour Alabaster Embossing Powder over the front of the card and shake off the excess.

  5. See that you didn’t ink up your stamp enough and some powder doesn’t stick to the images — so you go on a vandalous rampage through the neighborhood until you calm down and start over.

  6. After melting the embossing powder, color in two of the koi near the top with a Ranger Emboss It Pen and melt Gilded embossing powder over them.

  7. Re-stamp the same pair of koi with embossing ink and melt Alabaster embossing powder over them.

  8. Trim your panel down to 4 x 5.25” and adhere it to an A2 sized card base.

  9. Stamp and heat emboss the sentiment, “YOU GOT THIS MY FRIEND”, onto some black cardstock with Alabaster embossing powder.

  10. Trim the sentiment down to a strip with the MISTI Cut Align tools and a craft knife.

  11. Cut a strip of gold glitter paper just a little bit longer than the sentiment strip and adhere it to the panel

  12. Adhere the sentiment strip over the glitter strip.

  13. Finish off the card with a few gold sequins (I only had some matte gold sequins in my stash).

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed this little card tutorial. And I would love to see you re-create this gem of a design. I have included a grid of supplies below and a list of links to continue hopping along. Please remember to use affiliate links before you make a purchase.
