Hey Artie! Wasn’t it fun creating backgrounds Tuesday night with the On the Diagonal Turnabout? Here’s a recap of the episode with finished eyecandy!
We gather every day of the month ending in 9 at 9PM to play with C9’s latest.

Check out this videos for WHY I bought all the C9 inks!!
If you missed the last C9 on the 9s live, you can catch it here!
Card #1 - Yes You Can
Turnabout stamps help you create a variety of looks by switching out ink colors, cardstocks and embossing powders. Pair them with large dies or small coordinating images for impressive results and hours and hours of joy!
I used the On the Diagonal Turnabout Stamp to create a background on Neenah Solar White cardstock with C&9th Eggplant Ink.
Then, I heat-embossed the “Your Kindness Matters” sentiment from the Buds and Blossoms Stamp Set on some white cardstock with Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder.
Next, I stamped out the heart image from the Buds and Blossoms Stamp set with Hero Arts Unicorn White PIgment ink along the front of the card base. And to finish it off, I added some rhinestone embellishments with liquid adhesive.

Card #2 - THX a lot!
Card #2 — THX a lot!
To create this card, I stamped out the On the Diagonal Stamp onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Sparkle embossing powder. I masked off the bottom third of the card front to leave it plain.
Next, I created a turnabout background with Buttercup, Poppy and Oceanside inks. Then, I die cut the “All the Letters” dies THX and the rectangles out of white and Oceanside cardstock. I backed the rectangles with larger rectangles I trimmed out of the turnabout background I created.
Then, I inlaid the Oceanside letters into the die cuts with Bearly Art Glue and covered them with Hero Arts Lacquer Pen for dimension and shine.
Finally, I added two strips of C9 cardstock to the front of the panel and popped up the THX over the front of it all with foam adhesive.

Cards #3 & 4 - Yes You Can Slimlines
For my finale, I created two very different slimline cards with the same message: YES YOU CAN!
For the ocean themed card, I used a piece of scrap paper torn into a wavy line to form a stencil for the waves. I applied Hero Arts Navy and Cornflower inks direct-to-paper over the stencil to form the waves. The two colors give the appearance of depth.
Where the stencil leaves a hard line, I drew the foam tops of the crashing waves with a white gel pen. This I drew in some leaf shape boats with a white gel pen and then dotted in some full strength watercolor over them in red, orange and yellow. I added a shadow to them with a black Copic marker.
This design was adapted from a watercolor tutorial I watched here!
To finish it off, I die cut the background out with the letters YES YOU CAN and stacked them three die cuts high. I added some shadows with a Copic marker.
For card #4, I used the gray and pink On the Diagonal Background to back the YES YOU CAN message. Then adhered them to a scored slimline cardbase. Super simple and easy.
