Hey there Artie! Great to have you at Del & Artie’s blog post for the Tonic Garden Party Release Blog Hop! My friends at Tonic have put together a versatile and beautiful set of stamps for August.I love the open spaces and clean lines of these stamps. You can have a heyday with alcohol markers or water colors. Here, you can see the stamp sets I used for my two cards today. I had a ton of fun painting them in with Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens!
Peony Blooms Aqua Flow Card
For my first card today, I grabbed my Aqua Flow Pens and some watercolor cardstock and stamped out a spray of the flowers using Nuvo clear embossing ink. To achieve a seamless look, I stamped and embossed the center flower, then masked it off and repeated the process with the other parts of the spray.
After I finished embossing the entire image with Turquoise Lagoon embossing powder, I started to color it in with my Aqua Flow Pens. I began by wetting sections of the image with Vanilla Sundae and then I dropped in some Empress Teal along the bottoms of each petal. To blend the colors together, I mixed them together on each petal with the Vanilla Sundae pen. For the leaves I added some Indigo Batik and blended it out with the Empress Teal.
When I finished painting the image, I fussy cut it out with my Tonic - Tim Holtz Mini Snips. I adhered it to the front of an 8.25” x 4” panel of Navy cardstock with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. I popped up the panel on an 8.5” x 4.25” card base with some Craft Perfect Foam Adhesive.
Then, I stamped out a sentiment from the Celebrate Sentiments Stamp Set and heat embossed in Glacier White Embossing Powder on some Navy cardstock. I trimmed it down and adhered it to the front of the flowers. with a paint brush, i splattered some white pigment ink over the front of the entire project. To finish off the card, I added some Tropical Oasis sequins to the front for shine!
Note: One of my good friends, Ashley Tucker, helped me with the Navy background choice!! Big shout out to her. She is also in this hop so show her some love!
Celebrate Life Bear Birthday Card
For my second card, i tried my hand at No Line Watercolor. Other card artists thrill with their no line watercoloring and I really want to improve in this area. Practice makes perfect, right? So I stamped out the bear and balloon images in a very faint ink and colored them in with Aqua Flow pens. For the bear, I used Vanilla Sundae, Cinnamon Stick and Rustic Oak, with just a little Soft Rose in the ears and cheeks.
For the balloon, I used Vanilla Sundae, Soft Rose and Indigo Dawn. I started by laying down a bit of the Vanilla Sundae, then the Soft Rose. I colored the right side with Indigo Dawn and then blended it together with Soft Rose. I stamped out the gifts with Acorn Hybrid Ink and colored them in with Indigo Dawn, Vanilla Sundae and Cinnamon Stick. I added some glimmer to the ribbons, as well. I fussy cut all of the images out and set them aside.
For the belly band background, I wet a piece of watercolor cardstock and dropped some Vanilla Sundae and Indigo Dawn on top. I dried the panel with my heat gun and adhered it to the front of an A2 sized card base. To even out the front of the card, I added two panels of watercolor cardstock above and below the band. Then I popped up the fussy cut images on the front of the card with foam tape. I finished off the card with some Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops!
