Hero Arts Unity Hop

Hey there Arties! Hero Arts is at it again with their Unity Collection. Dana Joy and Pocono Pam created some really great images and sentiments to mark history in the making. These two 6 x 8 stamp sets and a fantastic die come at a time when unity needs some advocacy.

FROM THE BACK OF THE PACKAGING:

Dana Joy, Pocono Pam and Hero Arts are excited to partner in a conscious effort to be intentionally diverse and inclusive. Crafters and cardmakers of color need to feel support, appreciation, and respect when expressing their values, experiences and skin tone in their work. We are celebrating this spirit through unity, and this collaboration is a pathway for everyone to see themselves in their art. We hope the Kids United stamp set will encourage makers to become interested and committed to listening and learning from and about each other, and recognize we are all one, united creative community. 100% of net profits from this 6″ x 8″ stamp set will go to Racial Justice charities.

Kindness is everything!

One of the most important characteristics I want to teach my children is kindness. One of the hashtags I use in nearly every post is #diykindness, because kindness comes from God. He exudes kindness and produces it in us.

So when I saw this sentiment in the “Power to the People” stamp set, I was excited to pair it with the little boys image from the “Kids United” set.

To create this card, I die cut the the little boys image with their coordinating frame cuts. The die comes with the butterfly die attached inside it. So when I die cut the boys, they had a butterfly die hole between them. I just went with it, and stamped and die cut the butterfly image to pop up in between them.

I colored in the boys in matching clothes and the butterfly with Copic Markers. Then, I repeatedly stamped the Kindness is Everything sentiment in Cornflower Ink on an A2-sized top folding card base for a background. To finish off the card, I popped up the boys on some foam tape and the butterfly onto the boys.

Last month, I created a video for the first Unity Collection sets! You can watch it here!
