Deck the Halls Die D Lites Card

Deck the Halls Die D Lites Card

Deck the Halls Die D Lites Card

For my first project, I created a shaker card using the Laurel and Bows Cut and Emboss Folder to create a window and a background for the Deck the Halls die cut ornament!! You can follow these steps to create one, too!

  1. First, I embossed a panel of cardstock with the Laurel and Bows folder.

  2. Then, I ran a pad of embossing ink over the raised design and heat embossed it with a red and gold Christmas Eve Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe.

  3. Next, I used Life-Changing Blender Brushes to add some Catherine Pooler Flirty Fuchsia ink all over the panel. I created a vignette with some Grape Crush ink on the outside and some Sea Salt white ink on the inside around the window.

  4. I die cut the ornament image several times — once with just the outline for a solid backing, then three times with the inside die.

  5. Then, I colored in the back ornament panel with red-violet Copic Markers and the front ornament panel with yellow-greens and red-violets.

  6. Next, I cut out some of the insides of the other die cuts for extra greenery around the ornament on the card front and colored them in.

  7. I cut the entire insides out of one of the ornaments to leave the outline of the ornament, only. I adhered it between the back panel and the front designed panel for dimension.

  8. Then, I poured some fuchsia and lime green sequins from my stash onto the front of an A2-sized card base.

  9. Finally, I adhered a piece of acetate behind the window with some scor-tape (sook wang). Then, I popped up the panel with some thick foam tape and adhered over the front of the card base.

Merry Hugs Die D-Lites Card

For my second project, I created a card using the super cute Frenchie from the Merry Hugs Die D-Lites set and the same embossing folder to frame him on the front. You can follow these steps to create one, too.

  1. First, I trimmed some thin strips of Ruby Gemstone specialty paper from Tonic Studios and adhered them to the front of an A2-sized card base with some Scor-Tape.

  2. Then, I embossed a panel of cardstock with the Laurel and Bows folder, trimmed it down to 4 x 5.5 inches and adhered it to the front of the card base with some Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

  3. I used the cardstock from the emboss and cut folder to create a tiny background for the pup’s image. I stamped a bough of pine and some pine cones from the Hero Arts Christmas Trimmings stamp set with Catherine Pooler inks: Sage, Eucalyptus, Over Coffee and Icing on the Cake.

  4. Next, I die cut the Merry Hugs dies out of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock and colored them in with Copic markers. For the dog, I used BV29, BV25 & BV23. For the bow tie, I used R29 and R24.

  5. After coloring them in, I adhered all the pieces to the stamped mini background with strong liquid adhesive and trimmed off the bottom of the dog.

  6. I glued the mini panel into the center die cut opening.

  7. Finally, I die cut the words Merry Hugs twice, colored them in with a red copic marker (R29) and stacked them up on the front of the card.
