Card #1 — Nerding Out

I have an app on my phone that identifies every plant and weed in my yard and garden. I spend an inordinate amount of time learning about all of them. My living room has a smattering of different green friends including a member of the same plant family as the stromanthe — the prayer plant. It rises and falls with the light during the day and reminds me to pray. When I saw this stencil, I nerded out, immediately.

I found that stromanthes’ leaves often bear hues of red on both sides, unlike the prayer plant which looks similar but has green fronts and rusty backs. So I brushed on different green inks and added some red, too. On the front one, I added some Simon Hurley Gold Rush Lunar Paste to make it shine!

For the background, I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Double Plaid Cover Wafer Die out of white cardstock and glued it to the front of my card base.

The extra two stromanthe leaves are pieces of a single stenciled leaf I cut apart.

The sentiment is from the CZ Designs + SSS So Not Cringey stamp set. There are coordinating dies available, but I fussy cut this one and added some Simon Says Stamp Embellishment Mix Orange Leaves for some bling.

Card #2 - My Cups of Tea

The Simon Says Stamps and Dies Par-Tea set has a really great stack of tea cups from the world of Alice in Wonderland. I colored them in with Copic markers, split them in two and added them to the front of an embossed panel of white cardstock (Crimped Floral Embossing Folder and Cutting Dies).

I finished it off with some Dusk Embellishment Mix.
