Tonic Studios Spring Dreams Stamp Collection Online Party
Hey there, Artie! This week we’re celebrating the new release from Tonic Studios called, “Spring Dreams,.” Check out all the fantastic stamps available in this release!
I have the privilege of showing off the Up in the Air Stamp Set using the Nuvo Watercolor Pencils. Please note that I am as new to watercolor pencils as these Nuvo Watercolor Pencils are new. But I took several hours to watch others and then try my hand at it.
I found that the Nuvo Watercolor Pencils really render easily and beautifully. To get used to them and to have a quick view of the colors, I swatched them all out. First, the Shadow, then the Elementary Midtones and Pastel Highlights.
I can’t say I have mastered them, yet, but I have learned to do some really basic coloring and shading with them and a watercolor brush.
To create this card, I stamped the hot air balloon image in Siren Blue ink on watercolor paper. then, I lightly colored in the image with the pencils section by section. To achieve colors that do not come in the sets, I just mixed two or three different pencils.
Section by section, I used my watercolor brush to wash over the color and render or “melt” the watercolor pigment.
I’m used to coloring with alcohol markers, so these pencils present a new challenge for me. But I enjoyed the results, especially, when I move the card a bit further from my face. hahaha…
The sentiment is in the stamp set, but I cut it in half so I could make it fit in a smaller space. I added a few Red Berry Nuvo Drops around the sentiment. To finish off the card, I trimmed it down to 4 x 5.25 inches and popped it up on foam tape on the front of an A2-sized card base.
I hope you enjoyed spending a few moments with me to see my take on these Nuvo Watercolor Pencils and the Up in the Air stamp set. If you want to shop for these supplies, I have listed them below for your convenience.
